My shots exploded that day. I was on the beach somewhere with

NOT
A DROP WASTED
He stayed awake all night long, in a smoke filled room.
Cheap flowered wallpaper and green teeth, two in the
morning putting on lipstick in a dirty bathroom mirror.
Dry skin against dry porcelain tub and an empty
Vaseline bottle. Pubic hairs and blood speckles on the floor.
Tile grout and very easy, the total feeling of being left
alone. Self inflicted safety-pin punctured into the skin,
all over the surface of his body. There was a line of ants
under the sink. A ring for each finger, he awaits his companion.
Dirty companion towel rarely washed. Stained muscle shirt
two sizes small. If he is going to jerk around like that
he can do it in the corner. If your glad to meet him, he finds you
attractive. The urge is hidden away, deep inside his mind.
The ability to create some wetness for her, is not desirable. No
need to run his hands through soft scalp while skin is etched
away. Only acne covered, dry faces can rub his thighs, and
maybe three day old growth. Screaming vultures circling
under his chin, white fingernails and tight knuckles, firm grip.
Bruises like hand prints on his back. Wiped clean leaving
brown splotches on his legs, brown and red sometimes mix.
He rolls over on his back and offers his partner off the cold
tile. Brace yourself, bumps on the head are sure to show.
Short hair rashes high cheekbones, like wedging an umbrella
into a smoke filled chimney. His partner with a glass eye
and a never ending cough, addicted to cough drops.
Guilt wrangles the pain. Just the place to be; self esteem
placed nowhere in his body. |
